Is the aerosol agent in 1Alert Stix be toxic to humans or animals?

No! The aerosol agent in 1Alert Stix consists of strontium salts and oxidants that are non-toxic in nature and thus, harmless to living beings. However, as the gas consists of fine solid particles, it can be irritable to the eyes. If that happens, we advise you to immediately rinse your eyes with water.

Should I still have fire extinguishers on standby after having installed 1Alert Stix?

1Alert Stix is the first line of defence against fires as it limits the chance of an accidental fire caused by a short circuit or failures in electrical panels, junction boxes, MCB boards, server room panels etc. The sticker does not substitute fire extinguishers and thus, they must be kept handy. In case of a fire, it is always advisable to call the local fire brigade and evacuate the area immediately.

How is 1Alert Stix to be installed?

First, remove the adhesive cover at the back of 1Alert Stix. Alternatively, you can affix the product to the surface using screws in mounting the holes provided at the back. Then, install the product on a flat surface above the expected area of a potential fire with the heat-detection wire facing downward.

Note: It is advisable to affix the product not higher than 60 cm from the base of a panel.

Is the 1Alert Stix certified by BIS?

With the technology being the first of its kind, the Fire Safety industry does not have any guidelines or test standards to certify 1Alert Stix. However, it is CE certified while also having been successfully tested by an NABL Accredited Fire Testing Lab in India for being effective against electrical fires within enclosures of rated capacity.

If the 1Alert Stix gets activated due to a fire, what should I do?

In the event of a fire, it is advisable to contact the local fire brigade and evacuate the area immediately. Once it is safe to go back in, you must wait for the shell covering of the activated 1Alert Stix to cool down before touching it or removing it to be replaced with a new one.

What should I do if the heat-detection wires on the product are damaged or removed?

If the heat-detection wires seem damaged or removed from 1Alert Stix, it will not activate in the case of a fire emergency. We request you to contact us to have the product replaced at the earliest. 

Can the 1Alert Stix be reused if it has been activated before?

No! 1Alert Stix is a single-use product and must be replaced if it has been activated once. 

How do I calculate the quantity of 1Alert Stix required for application in a space?

1Alert Stix is engineered and tested for a volumetric capacity of upto 400 litres or 0.4m³. It is advisable to calculate the volume of an enclosure using the following formula: 

L (cm) x W (cm) x H (cm)/1000 = Volume in litres. 

In case the volume is higher than the rated capacity, we recommend installing an additional sticker. 

Is 1Alert Stix a pressurized device?

No! It is a non-pressurized fire extinguishing solution. 

Does installing the 1Alert Stix require any piping or electrical wiring?

No! 1Alert Stix is a standalone device and requires no additional piping or electrical wiring.

How do I know if the 1Alert Stix is suitable for my application?

Can the 1Alert Stix be used outdoors?

No! 1Alert Stix is only effective when installed and activated within enclosed spaces as the aerosol agent is meant to flood an enclosure to extinguish a fire and prevent re-ignition. 

Is the 1Alert Stix waterproof?

As the 1Alert Stix is engineered for enclosed application, it is both moisture proof and water resistant. However, it is likely to get damaged if completely submerged under water. 

Where do I locate the date of manufacturing on the 1Alert Stix?

The date of manufacturing is printed at the bottom of the 1Alert Stix in the following format – PD: Date Month Year. For example, ‘PD: 05072022’ would imply that the date is July 5, 2022.

What is the lifespan of 1Alert Stix?

1Alert Stix has a lifespan of 10 years from date of manufacturing.
